It’s Chinese/Lunar New Year this Friday (31st Jan) so here’s a little printable for the occasion. Growing up, my parents always made the effort to decorate the house when it is Chinese New Year as it’s the biggest festival for the year. One of the few decorations I still recall how to make are origami paper cranes that we used to hang around the house. This year, I’ve made little paper cranes for my house with an oriental-style patterned paper which you can download below.
The patterns are designed in two colourways, and I’ve made them available as a full page A4 print or a square version for origami purposes. Regardless of whether or not you celebrate Chinese New Year, these patterned papers can be used for general origami, or even as a wrapping paper.
I was originally going to try to photograph each step of how to make the paper cranes, but there wasn’t enough light for me to take all the photos in time. If you’re interested in how to make the cranes in my photos, there are tons of guides and videos online, but this one in particular is very easy to follow.
Due to the size of the printable, the downloads are split into two:
If you like this, do let me know! I’m always interested to see how the printables I share are being used. :)
