I had a lovely late brunch at Duck & Waffle on Saturday afternoon. We were sat down by the windows with so much natural light, I couldn’t help taking a few quick shots of the food. I didn’t have my proper camera with me so these were taken with my iPhone.
Our food choices: We both ordered the signature dish which was their namesake – the duck and waffle. It’s an unusual combination of crispy duck leg confit, duck egg, waffles and mustard maple syrup, but a surprisingly delicious melange of flavours. Desserts were a steamed orange pudding with crème caramel ice cream, and tiramisu.
Great food and lovely company – certainly the best way to spend the weekend.
Photography-wise, in hindsight, I’m noticing some composition issues with these shots but it’s always a challenge to achieve that fine balance of taking photos discreetly in a public place and getting a good shot.
Of all the social media outlets, my favourite has to be Instagram (and I’ve only just started last month!). I haven’t been taking as many photos as I would have liked with my DSLR in the past year, but Instagram has kept me motivated to do little snippets of styling and photography, albeit just with my iPhone. I’m now even more inspired to get back to “proper” photography with my DSLR.
Here’s a selection of some of my Instagram pictures. I hope you enjoy these – find me on Instagram @curiouszhi and please say hello!
